a book of images in the Images of
America series by Arcadia Publishing Company, has
just been released. The 128-page book has more
than 200 images of Paso Robles' rich heritage,
beginning with the 125-room grand hotel
completed in 1891, for which the little town became well-known.
Tourists came to the little community
for the healing waters of the mineral springs and
mud baths. There was steady development after 1886
when the railroad arrived and town lots were auctioned.
Area homesteaders raised cattle, grew grain, and
planted fruit, walnut, and almond orchards.
